Purim

 

 Purim this year in the Hebrew Academy was like no other! After sleeping through the first two periods, the day started off with an always funny skit, making fun of the staff, created by the senior class. Led by Benjy Abramowitz, as the host, and other seniors such as Solomon Nahon, who played Rabbi Benhamu and Mr. Harte, and Ariel Elephant, who played Mr. Cassel and Mr Pangeni, the skit threw the students out of their chairs in laughter. Following the skit, we all walked across the street to join the entire school in attending the traditional purim carnival. Many students were put in charge of toddlers; walking around with them, taking them on rides, and eating with them. The remainder of the students enjoyed the slides and foods, and most of all dumping Mordechai Burnbaum into a deep bucket of water! Later in the day, we all walked back across the street for another skit, this time, the teachers were making fun of the students. Mr. Cassel, playing Ari Zahler, along with numerous other staff members, gave all the students a good laugh. The auction was next on the to do list for the day. The legendary auction. The same auction in which Josh Kahn spent over $500 for an exemption on a Mr. Morse essay the year before. This auction was the hit of the day. Numerous seniors were sold to be slaves for the day, the Fox family generously auctioned off a day on their boat, and teachers also sold away free points on various quizzes, test and etc. The day ended off with an always hilarious film, created by Daniel Redlich and others, reminiscing the old security guard, and bringing attention to the threat of the pigeons! This Purim was truly the best yet!
